Make sure you know how to do the Sandal verbs. Remember: We wear boots in the present tense and sandals in past.
Hints:
Any verb that is usually a boot in the present tense, boots in the past.
But only in the 3rd person singular.
Example: Present tense
Pedir - to ask for.
In present tense:

tu pides
ella/ellos/ud pide
Nosotros pedimos
vosotros pedis
ellos/ellas/uds piden
However, note the changes in this when the preterite tense is applied:

The change is only in the 3rd person.

Absent 23/09: We learned VDISH in most classes (except 4th pd H). We took notes about these irregular preterite verbs (p.42), Reviewed CAR - GAR - ZAR verbs (p.40) and in some classes we completed p.40 ex 8; and then did p.40 ex 7 on the headphones for a grade. We checked the homework which was p. 41 ex 10 but we didn't take it up. You'll need to make up the speaking part...
Absent 24/09: We watched a video in Spanish and re-told (in 10 sentences or less) the events that happened by using the past tense. I didn't pass out any sheets but we did get a chance to go over and/or make up work missed.
Absent 25/09: We completed a worksheet on Escuchar and lectura/cultura, vocabulary words with multiple choice questions and fill in the blank, in some classes we completed a paired activitiy. You'll need to ask me about 3 worksheets; the escuchar/lectura, the vocabulary words fill in and multiple, and the homework page for VDISH and CAR-GAR-ZAR verbs.

Absent 16/9 (sept): We reviewed ser vs estar by creating a shopping bag. Each letter in the word SHOPPED stands for a reason to use SER. We also examined Estar with the word: EGLE (eagle). We completed two activities on ser vs estar , recieved a handout of notes, and attempted to listen to a song (it didn't work) - ask me about the ser and estar handouts upon your return.
Absent 17/9 (sept): We talked about SHOPPED and completed an exercise trying to examine the differences between ser and estar. Students completed it but I did not take up the activity. We completed the front side of the previous day's Ser vs Estar worksheet.

We went over and turned in our essay homework from the weekend. On your day back, you'll need to ask about the notes from El Laberinto de la Fauna.
Absent 10/9 (sept): We are learning how to write in Spanish! We started question #3 on our essay question sheet. Complete it for homework.
Absent 11/9 (sept): We completed 1 listening activity and began another. It will be speaking but we ran out of time so they will complete it for homework and then on Monday, we will do another activity very similiar to what we attempted today. Absent 10/9 (sept): We got pages of vocabulary cards. We cut them out then practiced them. Tomorrow is a quiz (pop) on only 5 words. You should study the cognate words. Upon your return, ask me for a copy of the vocabulary cards.
Absent 11/9 (sept): We got more vocabulary word handouts and we took a pop quiz on 5 cognate words. A handout was given for the homework!

We turned in the whole thing for a grade. You'll get your summer readings back after Labor Day. We also changed seats. New seating arrangement for everyone.
Absent 3/9: We listened to everyone's news reports and debated about immigration. We had the first GREAT debate! Now you guys are getting the hang of it! Awesome! If you're back tomorrow, ask me for the "jueves tarea".

Absent?: Need to turn in homework from Friday. We completed 2 speaking activities today. They were not taken for a grade but the practice was needed. Please try to be present on Thursday's class.
Your composition notebooks were not taken up.
Absent 20/8?: We looked at the first long essay p. 156 in your AP SPN book (white book). We completed the quote of the day and read the two articles on p.156 - then listened to the audio file that accompanies it. We began debating about the essay question. There was no homework or handouts.
Absent 21/8?: We practiced how to peer check your writing samples. We read and corrected the first draft of our essays from last week. We also began reading the material on p.44 of your white books. We will complete that on Monday for a grade.
